The AI Network: Finding Your Role

The world has always revolved around communities. It’s how cultures have not only survived but also thrived. Innovation flourishes in an enabling environment and now more than ever, the AI world needs a supportive space to grow.

Whether you are new to AI or you are a business leader in the sector, you must understand, as Rudyard Kipling said: “…the strength of the wolf is the pack and the strength of the pack is the wolf…” In other words, the AI Network is only as strong as its individual members who are in turn only as strong as the entire network itself. We all need each other. So, the question is – “how do we build strong AI communities?”

Understanding the Basics

There is no universal definition for what can be called Artificial Intelligence partly because the technology is still evolving.

Generally, it is agreed that AI is the capacity of a computer system to perform tasks that are typically associated with intelligent beings e.g. the ability to reason and learn from previous experiences.

Understanding this is important because when the idea settles in that AI operates or could eventually operate even beyond the level of human intelligence, everyone involved in developing this technology will start to grasp the sacred importance of ensuring that the technology works for the benefit of humanity.

The AI Citizen

Regardless of differing nationalities and cultures, we all have one unifying truth – we are all humans. No matter the language we speak, we are more alike than we can ever imagine. We share the same experiences and feelings and quite often express them in the same way.

As the world becomes an even smaller sphere from the rise of modern-day technologies and computing power, the lines and differences that separate us are blurred daily, especially in the digital world.

We can leverage this change and create even more unifying experiences for ourselves. One of such ways is by becoming AI Citizens.

An AI Citizen, as defined by Stallion AI CEO Samer Obeidat in his book, “The Artificial Intelligence Citizen” is a person who understands their role and responsibility in the emerging AI-powered future and is committed to the ethical and responsible use of AI for the benefit of humanity.

As AI Citizens, we become members of a digital world where differences such as race, gender, and sexual orientation do not matter. This is the first step towards building individual solid units of an AI Network – understanding how you can contribute and taking steps to create social change with the power of AI.

Building Strong AI Communities

Having understood that taking on the role of an AI Citizen is one step, the next is to figure out how to find your place and become a part of a network of like-minded people.

No single homogenous AI network can exist. The overall network will be comprised of smaller groups of online communities.

What should be the focus of these communities? Most pressing is how to tackle the weighty issues of ethical bias in AI models. Many of these issues result from the lack of diversity in AI teams. However, within an AI Network, the unique experiences of everyone can inform the creation of reliable AI models that do not discriminate against anyone.

Conversations drive change and it is every AI Citizen’s responsibility to ensure that the critical subject matters around AI remain at the forefront of every development cycle. By keeping these issues in mind and working towards their resolution, AI communities can maintain the drive toward building strong communities.

AIQOM AI is focused on creating AI Networks where AI Citizens can meet, interact and share ideas on how to apply AI in the real world. You can also acquire AI Citizenship status from the diverse selection of multilingual courses teaching the fundamentals of AI and its fair and responsible use.

You become a part of AI’s evolving story and its potential to create transformative value by doing your part.

Find your place in an AI Network.

Live it.

Own it.
